If you are looking at Plausible, you probably already want simple numbers without cookies. The usual reasons people look further are that Plausible and Fathom have no free plan, and that they are deliberately minimal, so there are no heatmaps. This page compares the three honestly, including where Plausible is the better pick.
Prices, checked 30 October 2026

When SnapIT Analytics is the better choice
- Small sites that want to pay nothing. A permanent free plan beats a 7- or 30-day trial for hobby sites, launches and small businesses.
- You want to see where people click. Heatmaps, dead clicks and rage clicks are on every plan, so you do not need a second tool next to Plausible or Fathom.
- Funnels on a small budget. Funnels come with the $9 Starter plan.
- Several small sites. 3 sites on Free and 10 on Starter, against 1 on Plausible's $9 plan.
When Plausible or Fathom is the better choice
- You need to self-host: Plausible is open source.
- You want team seats or to import your Google Analytics history; SnapIT Analytics does not offer these yet.
- You want a long track record. Plausible and Fathom have years of public history; SnapIT Analytics is new and today runs mostly on its maker's 30+ own sites.
- A busy site with few interactions: if your pages are mostly read and not clicked, Fathom's $15 for 100,000 page views can be cheaper than our event-based plans.
How the privacy model compares
All three avoid cookies. SnapIT Analytics counts unique visitors the way Plausible documents it: a hash of the visitor's IP address and browser, salted with a random value that is replaced every day and then forgotten, so a visitor cannot be followed from one day to the next and raw IP addresses are never stored. The SnapIT script also keeps one random id per tab in sessionStorage to stitch a visit together; the browser deletes it when the tab closes. It honours Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Details are in the privacy policy.
Switching takes a few minutes
- Create a free account with Google or email. You get a tracking id straight away.
- Replace the Plausible or Fathom tag in your page
<head>, or run both for a couple of weeks to compare:
<script>window.SNAPIT_TRACKING_ID = 'SA_your_tracking_id';</script> <script src="https://snapitanalytics.com/analytics.js" defer></script>
Open your dashboard; page views, visitors, sources and countries appear within a minute. Custom events and funnels are covered in the docs.
Questions
Is there a free Plausible alternative?

How much does Plausible cost?
On 30 October 2026: Starter $9/month (1 site), Growth $14/month (up to 3 sites) and Business $19/month (up to 10 sites), each for 10,000 monthly page views, rising with traffic; yearly billing gives 2 months free.
Does Fathom Analytics have a free plan?
No. Fathom offers a 7-day trial that needs a card. Its entry plan was $15/month for 100,000 page views and 50 sites.
What does Plausible do better?
It is open source and self-hostable, has a long track record, imports Google Analytics history and has team features. SnapIT Analytics is hosted only and has no team seats or GA import yet.
Can I run SnapIT Analytics next to Plausible?
Yes. The two scripts do not interfere, so you can compare the numbers before you switch.
